Welcome to TravelSafe Japan. By accessing or using our website and services at travelsafejapan.com (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

TravelSafe Japan provides food allergy awareness tools for travelers visiting Japan, including:

  • AI-powered photo scanning of Japanese food labels and dishes
  • Barcode scanning via the Open Food Facts database
  • Multilingual allergy communication cards
  • Chain restaurant allergen lookup
  • Travel compliance tools (IDP checker, medication check, etc.)

Always consult your doctor or allergist before traveling. AI analysis may contain errors — never rely solely on our results for food safety decisions. In an emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.

2. Account Registration

Some features require creating an account via Clerk authentication. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

We offer the following plans:

  • Free: 3 photo scans/day · 1 allergy card/day · 3 barcode scans/day. No payment required.
  • 5-Day Pass ($2.99): One-time purchase. Unlocks unlimited access for 5 calendar days from the time of purchase. Non-recurring.
  • Pro Monthly ($4.99/month): Recurring subscription billed monthly. Cancel anytime.
  • Pro Annual ($19.99/year): Recurring subscription billed annually. Cancel anytime.

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. Prices are in USD and may be subject to applicable taxes.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse our API endpoints
  • Upload images that are illegal, harmful, or violate third-party rights
  • Circumvent usage limits or rate limits through technical means
  • Share, resell, or commercially exploit the Service without written permission

5. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and trademarks of TravelSafe Japan are owned by us or our licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written consent. Images you upload remain your property; by uploading them you grant us a limited license to process them solely to provide the Service.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party providers including Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Google AI / Gemini (image analysis), and Open Food Facts (barcode data). Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the accuracy of data sourced from third parties.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI ANALYSIS RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAFEEATS JAPAN SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY HARM RESULTING FROM RELIANCE ON AI-GENERATED ALLERGEN ANALYSIS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. Active paid subscriptions will be cancelled without refund in cases of serious policy violations.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Tokyo, Japan.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.
